Reference 126334 is the Datejust 41 in White Rolesor, and this is the bright blue dial with applied baton markers on a Jubilee bracelet, which is the configuration most people picture when they picture a modern Datejust. Forty-one millimetres changed what the Datejust is for. The 36 is a dress watch that tolerates a suit sleeve; the 41 is a daily watch that happens to have a fluted bezel. The extra millimetres go into the dial rather than the case flanks, so the blue sunray has room to behave like a sunray: a hard bright band sweeping across the centre, dropping to deep navy at eight and four o’clock, moving as the wrist moves. The markers are applied white gold rather than printed, and the dial carries Rolex’s Chromalight display, which glows blue and holds it for a long time in the dark. The Cyclops lens over the date remains divisive and remains fitted.
