For your consideration is this brand new Rolex Sea-Dweller 16600. First released in 1988, the reference 16600 was the main watch in Rolex’s Sea-Dweller range and has become an icon of the dive-watch world for its unmatched capabilities and smart design. It's commonly believed that the reference 16600 was produced until 2008 (just look it up online), but this watch is from 2009, so what's going on here? Well, they got it wrong. It's known only to a few, but these V serial Sea-Dwellers are a thing of legend. It's said they are a watch that was never supposed to be made. However, a last minute decision by Rolex to extend the life of this version of the Sea-Dweller resulted in an extremely small batch of them being released. It's believed that only 100-150 pieces of this V serial Sea-Dweller were every made. Rolex doesn't do so-called "limited-editions" (unlike every other brand, they don't need to), but this is just about as close as you'll get to a limited edition Rolex.
