Grand Seiko Heritage Hi-Beat Boutique Edition 'Green Iwate' SBGJ005 Grand Seiko don’t seem to be able to put a foot wrong in recent years, and in 2014 the 500 piece limited edition SBGJ005 joined the ever-growing catalogue of amazingly finished, superbly built and mechanically interesting collection. It was especially mechanically interesting when new as it debuted the 9S86 Hi-Beat movement, and so was quite a big deal upon it's release, and it's desirability has not waned in the years since. Featuring the classic 44GS 40mm case in steel with it's hand finished Zaratsu polishing, it houses a stunning 'Green Iwate' dial which is inspired by the verdant green fields surrounding the Shizuku-Ishi Grand Seiko Studio. It's topped with applied hand-finished markers and GS' trademark super-sharp and exquisitely finished hour and minute hands hands, with a gold GMT hand which matches the gold 'GMT' script. You'll also note that this is the earlier Seiko/Grand Seiko double-signed dial, a feature we love and miss from the newer references.
