Tudor Black Bay 58 — the case for 39mm When Tudor launched the Black Bay Fifty-Eight in 2018, the brief was specific: take everything that made the original Black Bay work and rebuild it at the proportions of Tudor’s 1958 reference 7924 “Big Crown” — 39mm, no more. The result is the most wearable case in the Black Bay line, and the one that most accurately reads as a modern dive watch that could plausibly have existed in 1958. The black gilt configuration — black domed dial with pink-gilded bezel markings, numerals, and matching gilt Snowflake hands — is the most historically grounded version of the BB58. It references the warm-toned dials that characterised Tudor’s vintage divers before tritium gave way to SuperLuminova, and it wears differently on the wrist to the blue or burgundy variants: darker, more understated, with the gilt acting as warmth rather than flash.
