LeCoultre Reference E328 Automatic 35mm A stunning watch from one of horology's most accomplished watchmakers, the E328 from LeCoultre is a lovely example of the mid-century daily sports watch formula. Made in the mid-late 50's, the case was oversized for the time, measuring in at 35mm and around 10mm thick, with a 42mm lug-to-lug. 35mm doesn't sound particularly large, but it has real presence on the wrist, and feels like a 36 with those long, slender lugs. A good portion of this 10mm thickness comes from the screwdown caseback, an indication that this was a watch made to be worn all the time, and this solidity and water resistance has shown in how well this particular piece has been preserved. The stepped dial has aged wonderfully, taking on a darker tone throughout, and is in excellent condition with an even patina. There's a small blemish next to 'LeCoultre'. The dagger markers are in excellent condition, as are the hands. Plexi shows some minor marks. The case is very sharp, with excellent finishes throughout.
