Sinn UX SDR Hydro 403.05 Sinn make some of the toughest tool watches around, and some of the coolest, too. Based around the EZM 2 mission timer created for the Grenzschutzgruppe 9 (GSG 9) German Special Forces in the mid-1990s, the UX SDR is all about functionality and the ability to perform in the most demanding of situations. While every tool watch they make stands up to abuse better than most, this is perhaps the daddy, and as tough as they come. It features a 44mm bead-blasted case made from U-Boat steel for maximum salt water resistance, it is surrounded by a captive uni-directional diver’s bezel tempered to 1500 Vickers with Tegiment Technology. It houses a matte black dial with very legible lumed markers, fully lumed hands and a discreet colour matched date at 3. What makes it so interesting is that it is filled with oil. This does a few things for functionality, the first being it is extremely legible at any angle as it removes reflections and distortion, the second is the increased water resistance to a monstrous 5000 metres, and the third is that it is impossible for it to fog up.
