Grand Seiko Elegance Collection Limited Edition SBGK007 Released in 2019, the Elegance series is perhaps our very favourite line from Grand Seiko, combining perfect proportions, compelling dial options, and manually wound movements to provide the perfect take on the daily-dress watch. The dial is usually the undisputed star of the show with a Grand Seiko, but in the Elegance series the case is equally as important to what makes them so special. The proportions of the 39mm steel case are phenomenal, with the curvature of the case and lugs that seem to wrap around the bezel making for an almost-cushion shaped case that feels very organic on the wrist. Within this spectacular case is a dial probably not usually associated with modern Grand Seiko, with their emphasis on texture and colour. For the SBGK007, they've gone for a decidedly vintage inspired dial. To be honest, when we first saw this dial option in photos we thought it was perhaps a little plain, and moved on past it. But that was a mistake. In photos it appears to be a plain white-ish dial with little depth, and that always-controversial power reserve indicator.
