Ball Engineer Hydrocarbon AeroGMT II One very cool chunk of steel, the Engineer Hydrocarbon will never be mistaken for anything other than a watch from Ball. Such distinctive style is rare in today's world of homogenized design, and should be celebrated because of it. Their watches are unapologetically professional in appearance and spec. That imposing stainless steel case is listed as 42mm, but it closer to 45mm across the bezel, with a thickness of 14mm and and a 53mm lug-to-lug. It's quite broad in measurement, but it cleverly utilises a heavily cambered case to allow it to fit wrists that other 45mm's would overwhelm. One of the most distinctive styling features of the case is the crown protector, which uses a sliding lock to ensure the crown is securely in place and ensure that 100m of water resistance is intact. Inboard of this sits the 24hr bi-directional bezel with a lovely action and sapphire cap for scratch resistance. Within this case lies a deep black textured dial with the signature Ball tritium tubes ensuring it stays legible at all hours of the day.
