Patek Philippe Annual Calendar Rose Gold / Cream 5146R-001 When collectors think of Annual Calendars, they usually think of Patek Philippe and for very good reason. That's because they invented the complication, and it has become synonymous with the brand. First introduced with the 5035 in 1996, the annual calendar complication is similar to a Perpetual Calendar, but does not track February. This may seem like a lesser complication, but in fact it was engineered much later than the Perpetual Calendar, and it's design requires many less moving parts than most Perpetual Calendars, increasing reliability and robustness. Changing the date once a year is a small price to pay for this added reliability. This particular Annual Calendar reference is the 5146R, and was introduced in 2005. The beautifully proportioned case measures in at 39mm x 46.8mm lug-to-lug and 11.3mm thick, and is crafted in rose gold. It feels phenomenal on the wrist, with its Goldilocks sizing combined with the heft of the 18k rose gold.
