Jaeger LeCoultre Polaris Mariner Date 42mm Blue Dial Q9068180 Released in 2018, this generation of Polaris collection from Jaeger LeCoultre is part of a 50th Anniversary series in tribute to the original Polaris pieces from the 60's. This particular reference is known as the Mariner Date, and it is a masterful execution of a dive watch from one of horology's most storied brands. The stainless steel case measures in at 42mm across the case, with a thickness of 13.92mm, with a brilliant brushed finish on all areas other than the polished bevel lines and outer bezel. Within this case lies a striking lacquered blue dial with grained and sunburst finishing, with a gradient from deep blue to almost black across certain parts of the dial. It has a depth that really needs to be seen in person to be understood. Touches of orange on the seconds hand and internal rotating dive bezel add another dimension, and the date window is beautifully integrated with it's lacquered edges appearing to melt into the window.
