The Cartier Santos de Cartier Chronograph reference WSSA0017 in stainless steel with a black ADLC-coated bezel and silver dial. The Santos traces its story back to 1904, when Louis Cartier designed a wristwatch for the Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont so he could read the time without letting go of the controls, making it one of the first true men's wristwatches. The modern Santos Chronograph takes that iconic square case with its exposed screws and turns it into a bold, contemporary sports chronograph. The silver dial features the classic black Roman numerals, blued sword hands and two chronograph subdials, while the black ADLC bezel gives a striking contrast against the brushed and polished steel case. In a clever design touch, the chronograph is started and stopped from a pusher on the left side of the case and reset through the crown, keeping the profile clean. It wears on a black rubber strap with Cartier's QuickSwitch system, so it can be changed in seconds to the included black leather strap, which is in unworn condition.
