The Rolex Day-Date 36 reference 18078 is one of the most distinctive Day-Dates ever made: the 'bark' reference. Instead of the familiar fluted bezel, the 18k yellow gold bezel is hand-finished with a textured bark pattern, echoed in the centre links of the President bracelet, so the whole watch reads as one continuous piece of sculpted gold. The finish was only offered for a short window, few examples survive with the texture crisp, and this one presents in great condition with only light wear. The silver dial with baton markers keeps the presentation quietly elegant against all that texture. This 1981 example comes as a full set with box and warranty papers, plus a certificate of authenticity from The Horologist. Please note the President bracelet will fit a maximum wrist size of 17cm.
