About this watch

For your consideration is this extremely rare and attractive Rolex Submariner reference 16800 timepiece from 1985. Hailwood Peters can confirm that this watch has one-owner provenance, making it a very rare find. The watch is in totally unpolished condition, and had never been serviced or opened for its entire existence until we recently serviced it ourselves. In fact, the bracelet had never even been taken off the watch - there are no signs of the bracelet ever having been removed. The service included a complete movement overhaul, lubrication, regulation and new case seals to ensure the water-resistance of the watch (up to 300 metres), making the watch ready to be worn and enjoyed, or just safely stored away as a seriously collectable piece. Of course, the watch being totally untouched means it still has the original tritium hands, dial and bezel which have developed a deep beige coloured patina. Worth mentioning is that this is a very special transitional reference. Even though it's from the 80's, it is a five-digit reference 16800 (most five-digit references didn't come around until the 90's) and features a sapphire crystal and the updated calibre 3035 with quick-set date,…
