About this watch
The Greubel Forsey Signature 1 Red Gold “Didier Cretin” is the 11-piece limited red gold edition from the brand’s inaugural Signature series, launched in 2016. Conceived by Didier Cretin, a senior watchmaker at Greubel Forsey since 2006 with prior experience at Philippe Dufour, it marks the first non-tourbillon timepiece in the company’s history. Cretin received creative liberty to produce a classical three-hand watch while co-signing the dial and movement alongside Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey, shifting from the brand’s usual complications to a more traditional yet meticulously executed design. The manually wound Calibre GFS1 movement features 190 parts, a proprietary 12.6 mm Greubel Forsey balance wheel, 54-hour power reserve and high-performance escapement with triple pare-chute shock protection. Housed in a 41.4 mm diameter by 11.7 mm thick red gold case, it offers hours, minutes and small seconds via an off-centre silvered solid gold dial with open section exposing the balance and movement architecture. As far as we're concerned, Greubel Forsey's movement hand-finishing is the best in the world of watchmaking. Period. And the Signature 1 is another fine example of this.
