For your consideration is this extraordinarily rare and attractive grand complication timepiece from Vacheron Constantin. It is part of their “Collection Excellence Platine“, and was released in 2008 as a limited edition of 50 individually numbered pieces. It has a platinum 3 part case, soldered on Maltelugs, sapphire display back and quick-set pusher buttons on the side of the case for all functions. The dial itself is made from actual platinum (indicated by the 950P marking between 4-5 o'clock) and has a sand-blast finish, painted external minute track, 18K white gold Maltese cross, 18K white gold applied hour markers and 18K white gold hands. The moon phase indication is also rendered from actual platinum and features two hand-engraved moons (note the different facial expressions in the photos). Functions include running small seconds, moon-phase indicator, column-wheel operated chronograph function with minute counter, and perpetual calendar with date, day, month and leap-year indicators.
