About this watch

The Cartier Tortue Monopoussoir reference 2396 belongs to the Collection Privée Cartier Paris (CPCP), produced from the late 1990s to around 2008. It revives the Tortue case shape first introduced by Louis Cartier in 1912 and the monopusher chronograph configuration that appeared in the late 1920s. With the explosion in interest in Cartier over the last few years, the Tortue Monopusher range in particular has become one of the most sought after and collectable variations. The 18k white gold Tortue case has a curved tonneau form with an octagonal crown set with a sapphire cabochon. The crown also operates the chronograph functions (start, stop and reset). On the reverse, it has a sapphire display back revealing the movement. The dial is silvered with a guilloché pattern, an oversized Roman numeral at 12 o’clock, a blue minute track, and blued steel Breguet-style hands. It features a small seconds sub-dial at 9 o’clock and a 30-minute chronograph counter at 3 o’clock, with a central chronograph seconds hand.
